# Can I Receive Calls or Text Messages (SMS)?

CallTuv is designed as an **outbound calling service** - everything is built around making your calls cheap and simple. That focus means a few things aren't part of the product, and we'd rather you know exactly where the lines are than find out at an inconvenient moment.

## No incoming calls

Nobody can call you *through* CallTuv. Even when your calls display a [Shared Number](/help/5641209-what-recipients-see-shared-numbers-explained), calling that number back won't reach you - it belongs to a shared outbound pool. And if you've [verified your own number](/help/8927354-verify-your-own-number-as-caller-id) as caller ID, recipients who call it back reach your **regular phone line** - which is often exactly what you want.

## No SMS - in either direction

CallTuv doesn't send or receive text messages. That includes **bank verification and one-time security codes (OTP)** - services that text a code can't deliver it to CallTuv, because there's no inbound number to receive it. For inbound texts you need your mobile carrier or a dedicated inbound-SMS provider.

## Your own number is unaffected
