# Getting Started with CallTuv

> A complete, step-by-step walkthrough of your first CallTuv call - creating your account, adding credit, and dialing, explained in plain language.

**TL;DR:** Sign up with just your email at calltuv.com or in the app, add credit from $5, and you can call 200+ countries within about five minutes - no SIM card, no subscription.

CallTuv lets you call regular phones - landlines and mobiles - in more than 200 countries, without a SIM card, a desk phone, or any subscription. The person you call simply answers their phone as they always do. They don't need CallTuv, and they don't need the internet.

This guide takes you from nothing to your first call, step by step. It takes about five minutes.

## Step 1: Open CallTuv

You can use CallTuv in two ways - both work the same, so pick whichever feels comfortable:

- **On a computer:** open your internet browser (Chrome, Safari, Edge, or Firefox - whichever you normally use to visit websites), type **calltuv.com** in the address bar at the top, and press Enter. On the page that opens, click the button that says **Start Calling**.
- **On a phone or tablet:** install the free CallTuv app. Open the **App Store** (iPhone/iPad) or **Google Play** (Android), search for "CallTuv", and tap **Install**. Or use these direct links: [CallTuv for iPhone](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/calltuv-cheap-worldwide-calls/id6764273865) and [CallTuv for Android](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.calltuv.app).

## Step 2: Create your account (no password needed)

CallTuv has no passwords to invent or remember. Here is exactly what happens:

1. On the sign-in screen, type your **email address** into the box and confirm.
2. CallTuv sends an email to that address containing a **6-digit code**. Open your email inbox - the email arrives within a minute. If you don't see it, check the Spam or Junk folder.
3. Type the 6 digits into the CallTuv screen and press **Verify & Continue**.

That's it - you're signed in, and your account now exists. There was no separate "registration" step: signing in for the first time is what creates the account. You can also sign in with a **Google** or **Apple** account instead - all the options are explained in [Ways to Sign In to CallTuv](/help/7391824-ways-to-sign-in-to-calltuv).

One tip worth remembering: **always sign in the same way** (same email, or same Google/Apple account). Using a different method later can accidentally create a second, empty account.

## Step 3: Add credit to call with

CallTuv works on a simple pay-as-you-go basis: you put some money on your account (this is called your **balance** or **credit**), and each call subtracts a small amount per minute. There is no subscription and no monthly fee, and your credit never expires - it waits for you as long as you need.

1. Open the **Balance** page. On the computer, click **Balance** in the menu; in the app, tap your balance amount.
2. Choose how much to add. You can pick a ready-made amount ($5, $10, $25, or $50) or type your own - anything from $5 up to $500.
3. Pay with your usual card, or with Apple Pay or Google Pay. The payment page is handled by Stripe, a trusted payment company used by millions of businesses.
4. The moment the payment goes through, your balance updates and you're ready to call.

The full details, including paying inside the mobile app, are in [How to Top Up Your Balance](/help/8412937-how-to-top-up-your-balance). And if you'd like to know what a call will cost before spending anything, every country's price per minute is listed on the [rates page](https://calltuv.com/en/rates) - looking is free.

## Step 4: Make your first call

1. Open the dialer - the screen with the number pad. On the computer, click **Call** in the menu; in the app, tap the **Call** tab at the bottom.
2. Choose the country you're calling. Tap the country selector, start typing the country's name, and pick it from the list. CallTuv fills in the country code (like +44 for the UK) for you.
3. Type the phone number on the number pad. As you type, CallTuv shows the exact price per minute for that number - before you spend anything.
4. Press the **call button** (the one with the phone symbol). On a computer, your browser may show a small message asking permission to use your **microphone** - click **Allow**. This only happens the first time, and it's simply the browser making sure you approve.

The phone rings on the other side, the person answers, and you talk - just like any phone call. While you talk, the screen shows how long the call has lasted and what it has cost so far, so there are never surprises.
