# Emergency Calls Are Not Supported

> CallTuv cannot be used to call emergency services like 911, 112, or 999 - always use a regular phone line for emergencies.

**TL;DR:** Calls to 911, 112, 999, and other emergency numbers do not work on CallTuv. Always use a regular phone line for emergencies.

This is the one thing we ask every customer to know before anything else, because your safety matters: **CallTuv cannot be used to contact emergency services.** Calls to numbers like 911 (US), 112 (EU), or 999 (UK) are not supported and will not connect to emergency dispatchers.

## Why

Emergency services rely on carrier networks to route your call to the nearest dispatch center and to transmit your location. CallTuv calls travel over the internet from anywhere in the world, so neither of those guarantees can be met - an internet calling service is simply the wrong tool for an emergency.

## What to use instead

- A mobile phone with a SIM - emergency calls work even without credit and, in most countries, even without a SIM.
- A landline.
- Emergency SOS features built into your phone (both iOS and Android can call emergency services from the lock screen).

## Plan ahead when traveling

If you're traveling and rely on CallTuv for day-to-day calls, make sure you know the local emergency number of the country you're in and keep a way to reach it through the local carrier network.

This limitation is also covered in our [Terms of Service](https://calltuv.com/terms). For all non-emergency calling, see [How to Make a Call with CallTuv](/help/5273948-how-to-make-a-call-with-calltuv).
