# Team Roles: What Owners and Members Can Do

> The complete picture of CallTuv's two team roles - what members can do freely, what stays owner-only, and why it's set up that way.

**TL;DR:** Members get the full calling experience - calls, contacts, history, recordings, their own caller ID. Everything that touches money or membership is owner-only - top-ups, auto top-up, inviting and removing members, renaming the team, and gift credits.

Every CallTuv team has exactly two kinds of people: one **owner** (the person who created the team) and any number of **members**. The split is simple and intentional - members get the full calling experience, and everything involving money or membership stays with the owner. Here's precisely where the line runs.

## What members can do - the full calling experience

Being a member is not a limited experience for day-to-day use. Members can:

- **Make calls** on the shared balance, from the [web dialer or the app](/help/9145062-use-calltuv-on-any-device), with all [in-call controls](/help/8064193-in-call-controls-mute-speaker-and-keypad).
- **See the shared balance** and watch it update in real time.
- **Manage contacts** - their own private ones, plus [sharing contacts with the team](/help/1948537-managing-your-contacts).
- **View the team's [call history](/help/7482016-your-call-history)** and play back [recordings](/help/2359680-recording-calls) of team calls.
- **[Record](/help/2359680-recording-calls) their own calls** at no extra cost.
- **Set up their own caller ID** - [verifying their personal number](/help/8927354-verify-your-own-number-as-caller-id) or using Shared Numbers; caller ID belongs to the person, not the team.
- **Belong to several teams** and [switch between them](/help/1573940-creating-and-switching-teams) - and create teams of their own, where they are the owner.

## What only the owner can do

Everything on this list touches the team's money or its membership:

| Owner-only action | Where it lives |
| --- | --- |
| [Top up the balance](/help/8412937-how-to-top-up-your-balance) (web or in-app purchase) | Balance page / app top-up |
| Turn [auto top-up](/help/4573082-auto-top-up-never-run-out-of-credit) on or off | Balance page |
| Manage [saved cards and billing details](/help/2417850-managing-saved-payment-methods) | Balance page |
| [Invite members, revoke invites, remove members](/help/8241695-inviting-and-managing-team-members) | Team Settings / Team tab |
| Rename the team | Team Settings |
| Send or cancel [gift credits](/help/7650213-gift-credits-send-calling-credit-to-anyone) | Balance page / Team tab |

When a member reaches one of these actions - say, an empty balance at the [3-minute minimum](/help/6829471-minimum-balance-to-start-a-call) - the app doesn't fail confusingly; it gently points them to their owner ("Please ask your team owner to add funds").

## Why it works this way

The shared balance is the owner's money, so the controls that spend, move, or expose it stay in one accountable pair of hands. It keeps a family team simple - grandchildren call, one person manages the credit - and keeps a company team auditable, since [history and stats](/help/4906138-team-activity-and-call-stats) show exactly who used what while only the owner shapes the spending.

## If you need more control as a member

Two friendly paths: ask your owner (most things take them under a minute), or [create a team of your own](/help/1573940-creating-and-switching-teams) - you'll be its owner with full control, and you can belong to both teams side by side, switching as needed.
