I’m travelling in Bali and was unfortunately hospitalised with an illness. I needed to speak urgently with travel insurance and family back in the UK and found it freakishly difficult to find a solution - my phone network were no help, I tried several e-sim apps and nothing seemed to be working. I stumbled across CallTUV and the app has been a complete godsend, it costs me just $0.04 a minute to call the UK from Indonesia and everything works perfectly. Made a tricky few days much easier to navigate, so thank you. Will be recommending the app to everyone.

Picked because they are specific, not because they are flattering. A hospital bed, a mother two continents away, and someone who assumed it was a scam.
Simply brilliant! After Skype I have tried Sontel, Rebtel and others... and not satisfied. I try to call my dear old mom every day, I live in Malaysia and she is in Sweden. Oh my God, this is amazing! I've been living abroad for years and have been looking for an easy and straightforward way to call abroad, but all the Apps I've found so far were either not trustworthy or too complicated to set up. Completely by chance I found CallTuv and got convinced by the easy and transparent explanation of how to set up and make calls. I've just hung up with my bank in the UK which I called from my laptop. There was no, and I mean NOT ONE issue in the whole process, the connection was stable and clear, I could see the whole time how many minutes I have left and how much time has passed already. This is absolutely amazing! And no, I'm not getting paid to rave like I just did, I'm just really, really happy.

The Skype replacement that stuck
Reviewers who went looking after Skype shut down often name the apps they tried first. What they wanted back was the boring part: dialling a normal landline or mobile for someone who does not use WhatsApp.
Cheaper than they expected
Reviewers quote their own receipts. 8p to call a UK bank. Around 36 cents for ten minutes to the UK. Under $2 for a 14-minute call. One worked out the call cost 4 cents instead of the $1.80 the local carrier wanted.
The line is clear
"Easy" and "clear" are the two words that turn up most across these reviews. A few go further and note the keypad works on automated menus, which is where the other apps they tried had failed them.
It held up on the worst day
