Calling phones from Teams takes Teams Phone
Calls between people in a Teams organisation stay inside Teams. To ring a phone number, Microsoft says you need Teams Phone: a Teams Phone license for each user, on top of a qualifying Microsoft 365 or Office 365 business plan, plus a phone service that connects to the phone network, such as a Microsoft Calling Plan, licensed separately.
An admin assigns the licenses in the Microsoft 365 admin center and the phone numbers in the Teams admin center. And since Skype retired on May 5, 2025, Microsoft says the free version of Teams does not support paid calling plans.

With the loss of Skype to make international calls, I needed a replacement. Calltuv looks to be the perfect answer. It is technically easy to register, credit your account and to use the system. The call quality I experienced was excellent and the cost -Spain to UK - was less than I expected. The only slight downside was that there is no Test Number to check that my headset and microphone were working correctly. Otherwise, the perfect setup!!
