Phone Menu Not Registering Key Presses
When an automated menu ignores the digits you press, there is usually a simple reason - here is how to get through IVR menus reliably.

The most common reason: the call has not connected yet
The keypad only works after the other side picks up. While the call is still ringing, your presses are not sent anywhere, and CallTuv will tell you so directly:

This catches people out constantly, because many automated menus start talking the instant they answer, and it feels like the call is already "live" while it is still ringing. Wait for the call timer to start, then press.
How CallTuv sends your key presses
This part is worth knowing, because it is different from many calling apps.
Some apps play your key press as a sound down the line, in the hope that the menu at the other end recognises the beep. If the audio is even slightly imperfect, the menu mishears it and nothing happens.
CallTuv does not do that. Each key press is sent as its own separate signal, alongside the audio rather than inside it. There is no beep for the menu to mishear, which is why key presses generally land on the first try even on connections that are not perfect. CallTuv also paces each press automatically, giving the menu a moment to be ready for it.
How to get through a menu
- Wait for the call to connect. The timer starts and you hear the menu begin speaking.
- Open the in-call keypad - press Show keypad on the web dialer, or the keypad button in the mobile app. See In-Call Controls.
- Press each digit one at a time, with a short pause between digits. Rapid-fire sequences are what fail most, because many menus stop listening between prompts.
- Listen for the menu to react before pressing the next digit. Most menus confirm your choice out loud.
In the mobile app, each digit you press appears at the top of the call screen, which is a quick way to confirm the app registered the press even when the menu does not react.
A normal tap is enough. Pressing harder or holding a key down does not make the signal any stronger.
Menus with long codes
Entering an account number, a reference, or a PIN works the same way - just take it at a steady pace rather than typing it the way you would into a form. If a menu asks you to finish with the hash key, remember to press # at the end, since many systems wait for it before acting.
