Gift Credits: Send Calling Credit to Anyone
A step-by-step guide to sending calling credit to family or friends by email - on the website or in the mobile app - and to redeeming a gift code you've received.
Updated
View as MarkdownGift credits let you send some of your calling credit to another person by email. It's a lovely way to make sure a parent or friend abroad can always call you, or to thank someone with talk time instead of a gift card. The credit travels as a gift code - a short code (it looks like Ab3dE9gH1k) that the other person types in to claim it.
Sending comes out of your available balance, so you'll need some credit first - see How to Top Up Your Balance. Sending is a team owner action.
Sending a gift from the website
- Open your browser, go to calltuv.com/balance, and sign in if needed.
- On the Balance page, find the gift section and click Send credits to friends or family.
- Type the recipient's email address - check the spelling carefully, the gift email goes exactly there.
- Enter the gift amount ($1.00 or more). The amount is set aside from your balance the moment the gift is sent.
- Click Send gift. Done - the recipient gets a friendly email with their gift code and simple instructions.
If the send button tells you to top up first ("Top up once to unlock gift sending"), your balance is empty - add some credit and try again.
Sending a gift from the mobile app
- Open the CallTuv app and tap the Team tab at the bottom.
- Tap Gift credits.
- Tap Send gift, then enter the recipient's email address and the amount, exactly as on the web.
- Confirm - the gift email is on its way.
Received a gift code? Here's how to claim it
You can redeem on either platform - both take under a minute:
- On the website: go to the Balance page, choose Redeem a gift code you received, type the code, and press Redeem code.
- In the app: go to Team → Gift credits, tap Redeem code, and enter the code.
If you've never used CallTuv, don't worry - creating an account is free and takes under a minute, and the gift email links you to the right place. Once redeemed, the credit lands on your balance instantly and never expires.
One time detail to know: a gift code is valid for 72 hours (three days) from when it was sent. If it isn't claimed in time, the code simply expires and the money returns to the sender's balance automatically - nothing is ever lost.
Keeping track, and changing your mind
Your gift list (same places as above) shows every gift with its status: Pending (not yet claimed), Redeemed, Expired, or Cancelled.
Sent the wrong amount or mistyped the address? As long as the gift is still pending, choose Cancel gift on it and confirm. You'll see "Gift canceled and refunded to your balance" - the credit is back immediately, and the emailed code stops working.
Good to know
- You can send up to 3 gifts per week - if you hit the limit, the app will let you know, and it resets on its own.
- Gifts move credit you already have; to add new credit see How to Top Up Your Balance.
- The recipient's credit is their own once redeemed - it joins their team balance, for their calls.
- Prefer to share a balance with family rather than send one-off gifts? Consider inviting them to your team instead - everyone then calls from one balance you top up.
