Can I Top Up with PayPal?

PayPal is not one of the payment methods CallTuv can accept. Here is what you can pay with instead, and how to use money from a PayPal account anyway.

Unfortunately not - PayPal is not one of the payment methods CallTuv can offer, so there is no PayPal button at checkout. It is a fair question to ask, since PayPal is many people's first choice online, so here is exactly what you can use instead and how to spend PayPal money if that is where your funds are.

What you can pay with

Every top-up, on the website and in the mobile app, is handled by Stripe - the payment company that processes CallTuv's payments. Through Stripe you can pay with:

  • Any major credit or debit card - Visa, Mastercard, American Express and other major brands. Prepaid and virtual cards work too, as long as they are accepted internationally.
  • Apple Pay, on an iPhone, iPad, or Mac where you have it set up.
  • Google Pay, on an Android phone or in Chrome where you have it set up.

Apple Pay and Google Pay are worth knowing about if typing card numbers is a bother: you pick the amount, confirm with your face or fingerprint, and the top-up is done. The step-by-step version of all of this is in How to Top Up Your Balance.

Bank transfers, cash, and cryptocurrency are not accepted either - the card, Apple Pay, and Google Pay routes above are the complete list.

Why PayPal is not on the list

It is not a matter of preference. Our payment provider makes PayPal available only to businesses registered in a specific set of countries, and CallTuv's company, Configo Ltd., is registered in Israel, which is outside that set. There is no version of the checkout that can show a PayPal button for us today. More about the company behind CallTuv is in Who Is Behind CallTuv?.

Three ways to use PayPal money anyway

If your money is sitting in PayPal, you still have options:

  1. Use a PayPal debit card, if your account has one. In some countries PayPal issues its own physical or virtual debit card tied to your PayPal balance. That card is an ordinary Mastercard or Visa as far as any shop is concerned, so you can type it into the CallTuv checkout like any other card.
  2. Move the money to your bank account first. Transferring your PayPal balance to your own bank account, then paying with the debit card attached to that account, works perfectly and usually takes a day or two.
  3. Ask someone to gift you credit. Anyone with a CallTuv account can send calling credit to your email address, and you redeem it with a short code - useful when a family member abroad is happy to pay. See Gift Credits: Send Calling Credit to Anyone.

Whichever route you take, the credit behaves the same once it lands: it never expires, and it sits on your team's shared balance until you use it.

Once you have paid once, it gets quicker

The first card payment is the only one where you type card details. After that the card is saved securely by Stripe, and future top-ups are a single confirmation - pick the amount, press Confirm Payment, done. You can add, remove, or change cards at any time; see Managing Saved Payment Methods.

If a card is refused or the checkout misbehaves, that is usually a small fixable thing rather than a card problem - Payment Not Going Through at Checkout walks through the usual causes.

Still stuck?

If none of the routes above work for you, write to us at help@calltuv.com or through the contact page and tell us which country you are paying from. Real people read it, and knowing which payment methods customers actually need is how the list gets longer over time.

Frequently asked questions

Can I pay for credit with PayPal?
Not at the moment. CallTuv payments are handled by Stripe, and the methods available are major credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.
Can I use the money sitting in my PayPal balance?
Only through a card. If your PayPal account includes a PayPal debit card, you can enter that card at checkout like any other. Otherwise you would need to move the money to your bank account first and pay with your own card.
What payment methods does CallTuv accept?
Major credit and debit cards including Visa, Mastercard, and American Express, plus Apple Pay on Apple devices and Google Pay on Android. Bank transfers, cash, and cryptocurrency are not accepted.
Is there any way to get credit without a card of my own?
Yes. Anyone with a CallTuv account and credit can send you calling credit by email as a gift, and you redeem it with a short code. Nothing needs to be paid from your side.
